GETTING OLD

I was one year older last June 13. It was another happy day though i was not obliged to celebrate due to tradition. I just let it passed but deep inside thankful for the gift of another year ( hope it is still happiness and joy...).

Thankful for some friends who dropped by the hostel and made the day a little lighter even though the world seemed to be getting dimmer and dimmer because of the many crisis we are experiencing. Nowadays many opted not to treat friends. They rather save for the rainy season. Well, we cant blame them...

Thankful because i still have my job, feeling still stronger despite the shifting of work. I was night duty that time and yes i was able to go on duty without qualms. For more than fifteen years i am very thankful for helping those who got into my care and helped them getting better.

I'm a little sad because some friends were not there though i understand why they cant make it. But new faces came and shared the same joy and laughter the way old friends did.

More importantly I'm thankful because my family is intact. Though there were little loud and silent skirmishes we manage to stay and live together. Your texts and prayers meant a lot to me. That's why i continued to be strong and inspired.

Equally important is my new inspiration. Though she didn't know i am a year older now (let it be like that he he) i always pray we will end up together. I'm thankful you came into my life despite I'm a way way older than you. I'm not hurt even when you treat me I'm your grandfather already he he.

And thankful above all else because of God. Don't know where i am now if not with the guidance and blessings He bestowed upon me. To me and to those who were a year older last June 13 let's always be thankful that God is always on our side. Cheers, happiness and peace to us all.
