IT'S BETTER TO GIVE THAN TO RECEIVE

I used to receive gifts. During special occasions friends and relatives remember me by greeting me and send their little presents. They come in varied forms like packed in a small elaborate boxes or wrapped in fancy, glossy wrappers. Since childhood i have been a recipient of so many gifts even from some unknown faces. Sometimes the gifts come in the form of cash which delighted me even more.

We all agree that it's better to give than to receive. They say the blessings is doubled when you share your wealth. Most people opined that the blessings would come in many folds if you continue your benevolence to the ones who has less in life.

But giving gifts or sharing wealth has its elements. It's easy to give for the sake of giving and sharing. Withouth the good intention the spirit of sharing is lost. Others would give because of a bad purpose planned to gain more after giving their share. The gifts, first and foremost, should be distributed to please the receiver. In the eyes of God the giver gains more if he is giving in a wholehearted manner.

But we should not forget that we need gifts, too. Not from others but from ourselves. Being concerned to others is not bad at all. But forgetting oneself just to please others is i believe wrong. It's not bad to satiate ourselves once in a while. We should remember that before taking care of others' business we need to see ours first. It's logical that before we can help others we need to help ourselves first.

Sharing is loving. It's good to see some people are still concerned about lifting the lives of the many poor. I believe there are still good samaritans out there concealing their good deeds. Our admirations are high for them. For our part we can start giving and sharing at home, in our workplace, or during a ride in a bus by sharing your seat. Isn't the smile from the stranger comes out dearly? It touches one's heart.
